Mentors

Mentors are an essential part of the United Space School program. Individuals are chosen from USS & ISS alumni as well as educators from around the globe.

The mentors are in charge of guiding their team to successful completion of the project goals, and creating an atmosphere of focus and drive. Mentors come to Houston on a voluntary basis and stay with host families, just like the students do.

Mentors come from varying backgrounds, some working in the space industry, others working as teachers in their home country, and still others working on their PhD’s or other academic pursuits. They are brought together under the Head Teacher, whose responsibility is to ensure that the academic schedule runs to plan, that project time is properly planned and that all facility and hands-on tours occur in an orderly fashion. This position is an educator position, as the curriculum is coordinated by the Head Teacher.
